The psychologists and therapists at Central Iowa Psychological Services are highly experienced at working with children and adolescents of all ages, and their parents, with a wide variety of issues. We believe in conducting thorough face to face assessments with each client and their family and working together with our clients to determine the best course of counseling, specific to each person. Our approach is to help children and families use their existing strengths, in addition to learning new skills.

In addition to talking through problems and concerns, our therapists use a variety of games, toys, books, and art materials to enhance creative expression and unlock the many ideas and concerns that children may not be able to fully put into words, at first. Often through these tools, children find ways to express themselves and describe their concerns.

Our child therapists also strongly believe in working with parents and families, as part of the therapeutic process. It’s important that children and parents be able to use the insights and skills they develop during counseling once they return home. Our families find counseling to be a fun and emotionally connecting learning experience.

It’s easy to contact us for an appointment in our Ames Counseling or our Des Moines Counseling/West Des Moines Counseling Offices – Send us an email or give us a call at 515-233-1122 (for Ames), 515-348-8258 (for Ankeny), or 515-222-1999 (for West Des Moines).
