About Amy Badding, L.M.H.C., R.P.T.
LMHC, RPT – Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Registered Play Therapist
I am a registered play therapist and work with children as young as 2 years old. I use a non-directive/child-centered play therapy approach which allows young children to communicate their thoughts and feelings through a means they know how…through play. Having the parent involved in a young child’s therapy is essential. The ultimate goal is to transition the play therapy to the parent, using an approach called Filial Play Therapy. With older children, I use cognitive behavioral therapy and a more direct play therapy approach. I am also trained in conducting the MIM (Marschak Interaction Method) assessment and Theraplay. Theraplay is a child and family therapy for building and enhancing attchment, self-esteem, trust in others, and joyful engagement. If you’d like to learn more about Play Therapy and/or Theraplay, click on the following links: wwwa4pt.org or /www.theraplay.org/ . I have over 15 years experience helping children and families work through difficult behaviors and life changes. When you’re ready to take the step, I will be here to guide you and your child through.
