LISW – Licensed Independent Social Worker
I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker. I provide individual, couples, and family therapy with adults, children and adolescents. I work with trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, behavioral concerns, abuse, couples concerns, and family concerns. I use an empowerment approach with each client and believe that building on strengths allows for more growth to occur. I am certified by the EMDR International Association as a Certified EMDR Therapist. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, is a highly effective treatment for trauma of all forms. This therapy can be used for those who are just beginning to address their trauma, as well as those who have found that other forms of therapy have not allowed them to reach their goals in treating the trauma. I am also trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). My goal is to help each client understand that they are the expert in their own lives, can make positive choices for themselves, and I am there to gently help guide and support. I understand it is difficult to take the first step in coming to therapy, and I will be there to help each client open up on their own terms. I have experience working in residential treatment, juvenile detention centers, psychiatric medical institutes, outpatient therapy, and in providing school based mental health services. I received my Bachelor’s in Social Work at Mount Mercy University and my Master’s in Social Work at Saint Ambrose University.
